Harrity Campus
Brief History
Mastery Charter School Harrity Elementary opened for the 2010-2011 school year as a part of the School District of Philadelphia Renaissance Initiative. We are located in the Southwest section of Philadelphia and proudly serve our neighborhood families.
2016-2017 School Year
Students in grades 1-8: first day of school is August 22nd
Kindergarten: first official day of school is September 6th
Please plan to arrive to school early on the first day of school to make sure you receive your cohort and teacher’s name/schedule.
Lunch and Breakfast Update for 2016-2017
Breakfast begins at 7:20 for K-3 and 7:30 for 4-8
ALL MEALS SERVED FOR LUNCH AND BREAKFAST ARE FREE TO ALL ACTIVE STUDENTS
CHANGES TO OUR FOOD POLICIES:
Last year, we began a partnership with The Nutrition Group and saw a major increase in the number of students choosing to eat a healthy breakfast and lunch at our school. This year, we’re excited to announce that chips and juice will be on sale during lunch time, which is something that both students and families have requested. We are making a slight policy change to address building cleanliness : gum/candy/soda/sunflower seeds are no longer permitted in our school building. In the past, students have received an automatic detention for chewing gum/candy/seeds if it happened outside the cafeteria. Despite this rule, we continued to face problems with wrappers, seed shells, and gum stuck in desks, on the floor, in lockers, and in classrooms throughout the year. Consequently, these items are not permitted at all in the building, and will be confiscated and thrown away when they are seen. Just like last year, students will also receive a detention if they are chewing/eating/drinking these things at any point during the day (including within the lunch room).
